Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of the Indian cricket team loves to gorge on delicious butter chicken and why not it is unbeatably one of the best recipes that the Indian Mughlai cuisine has to offer.
Best eaten with rotis and nan, this dish goes well with rice too.  

Here’s how to make tasty butter chicken:


Ingredients:

 

Marination

 

·         500 gms chicken

·         1 tsp Coriander powder

·         Red chilli powder

·         1 tbsp Coriander leaves

·         1 ½ curd

·         Salt to taste

·         2 tsp Butter

Gravy

·         2 Onions (sliced)

·         1 Ginger (chopped)

·         2 cloves Garlic (chopped)

·         1 Tomato (sliced)

·         5 Cashew nuts

·         1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

·         1 tsp Coriander powder

·         1 ½ tsp Red chili powder

·         ¼ tsp Cardamom powder

·         Water

·         ½ tsp Garam masala powder

·         A pinch Nutmeg powder

·         ½ tsp Fennel  seeds

·         2 tbsp Coriander leaves (chopped)

·         Butter

·         Salt to taste

·         A pinch Kasuri methi

 

Recipe:

 

1.      Marinade the chicken with all the ingredients listed and let it refrigerate for 2-4 hours.

2.      Heat some butter in a wok.

3.      Add the cardamoms, cloves, cinnamon, and roast.

4.      Add chopped garlic and onion. Fry till golden brown.

5.      Now add the ginger & garlic paste and fry.

6.      Add the tomatoes and cook till they are soft.

7.      Add the chicken pieces, and cook for a while.

8.      Now add the remaining marinade to the chicken and stir well

9.      Add the fenugreek leaves, tomato puree and chicken stock.

10.  Cook till the chicken is done.

11.  Take another wok and melt some butter in it.

12.  Add the melted butter to the chicken.

13.  Garnish it with coriander.

Serve hot with Nan!
