- 2 of 5Amul Mohan, trade analyst from Super Cinema had already predicted the fate of the film and tweeted last night, “#ChennaiExpress will beat #EkThaTiger which did 100cr in 5 days, #Bodyguard & #YJHD had done it in 6 days and #Dabangg2 did in 7 days. #ChennaiExpress will cross 100 cr on Monday!!! this will be a new record(4 days + PP), FASTEST CENTURY!! (2/2) (sic).”
- 3 of 5Komal Nahta, the trade analyst and film critic made ditto predictions and said,“#ChennaiExpress next halt @ 100 Crore Station. Will be fastest film ever to touch the 100-crore mark. Kab hoga yeh? Bahuuuut jaldi!!(sic).”
- 4 of 5Another film critic and trade expert Joginder Tuteja concluded and informed that while paid previews brought 6.75 crore, over 33 crore came on Friday, 28 crore on Saturday and then 32 crore on Sunday, hence resulting in 100 crore being accumulated even before the film entered the weekdays. This is huge indeed as no other film in the past has gathered so much so soon. Also, the very fact that the collections have stayed consistent reflects the kind of acceptance this family film has managed for itself. The film has worked for all involved, and that is good news for the industry. For Shah Rukh Khan, this is his resurgence in a major way to see an all around positive response. Though he arrived with three centuries behind him (Ra. One, Don 2, Jab Tak Hai Jaan), this one should hold a special place in his heart. For Deepika Padukone too, this is her fourth major biggie in a row after Cocktail, Race 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. As for Rohit Shetty, his mega run over the years is uninterrupted with Chennai Express.

"Chennai Express has made the most of the Eid weekend solo release. The film’s high decibel promotion has also paid rewards as the film has swept the box office to set a new weekend collection record," reveals trade anlayst and film critic Vinod Mirani.
"Calling it a clean family entertainer also helped as the film ended its weekend (paid previews on 8th August included) with 92 crore, an outstanding fete on all counts. Having exhausted a lot of its ‘Must Watch’ audience, the film has slowed down at multiplexes but holding on well at single screens," concludes Mirani.
