Married actors in Bollywood are increasingly shying away from doing smooch scenes. Their logic is simple. Their wives don’t approve of it.
Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and now Ayushmann Khurrana are some of Bollywood’s married actors who refuse to get into lip locks with their heroines lest they get locked out of their own homes.
Shah Rukh Khan broke his no-kiss rule for the first and last time in 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'. But the experience of kissing his heroine was clearly not something that Shah Rukh cherishes. In future you won’t see him smooching his heroine even if his life depended on it. Akshay Kumar’s wife Twinkle too has made it clear that facial intimacy is not a permissible prospect in her marriage.
The latest married leading man in Bollywood to abide by the no-kissing clause is Ayushmann Khurrana whose kiss in Nautanki Saala has not gone down well with his wife.
“And why should it?” reasons a close friend of Ayushmann. “She is not a part of the entertainment industry. She comes from a conservative academic background. To see her husband kissing a stranger is not quite her idea of aesthetic art.”
Apparently Ayushmann had reluctantly agreed to the kiss since it was seen to be vital to the script. According to Ayushmann’s friend , “He had requested them to keep the kiss as brief as possible and to not use it to promote the film. However the kiss turned out to be much longer than expected. And it also showed in the promos. Each time he saw himself in the kissing stance Ayushmann cringed. That’s when Ayushmann decided he would never kiss again. He will do nothing to hurt his wife or marriage.”
