University Cricket Championship: Shah Rukh Khan, Rahul Dravid glam up opening ceremony

It was in 1980s that Shah Rukh Khan, a name to reckon with in Bollywood, had stood third in a two-mile run at the National Stadium in Delhi. That achievement helped him he get a small coverage in a local newspaper. Years later, Shah Rukh Khan, who makes headlines virtually every day, Shah Rukh Khan says the item holds special importance in his life.
"I still have the newspaper cutting with me. It was special for me then and it still holds a special place in my heart," Shahrukh, who launched the Toyota University Cricket Championship at the Cricket Club of India on Saturday, was quoted as saying.
Shah Rukh Khan, Kolkata Knight Riders’ co-owner, hopes the event made for university students will encourage them in the same way it motivated him in the past.
The T20 championship kick-started at the Brabourne Stadium with hosts Western Wolves (Mumbai University) taking on Northern Stars (Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi).
In totality eight teams will be pitted against each other in this championship that will be played till March 10.
