11 5-inch Indian phablets under 15K in the market

With the launch of large screen quad cores like the Micromax Canvas HD, Karbonn S1 Titanium, the Indian mobile handset makers has announced that they are determined to offer tough competition to the costly phablets in the Indian market. Other players are ready to launch their flagship models, and bring the price war down from 30-40 thousands to just 10-15 thousands for a 5 inch screen phone or phablet.

Apart from these two performance based phablets do the Indian customer have choice in large screen phones today? We today pick up a list of 4.5 inch and 5 inch screen phones which are low cost, affordable (most of these are also dual SIM mobile devices) and are manufactured by Indian mobile handset manufacturers.     Micromax A116 Canvas HD(Dual-SIM)

    This phablet from Micromax sports a 5 inch full touch HD display with a screen resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels backed by a MediaTek’s MT6589 Cortex-A7 SoC quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. It has an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and multiple camera settings such as night mode, 4X zoom - to further enhance the superiority of the memorable moments.

    The phablet runs on the Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 operating system and adds as the third in the Canvas series.

    The phablet was sold out as soon as it was launched in the market on the 14th of February this month. The next batch of this ‘in-demand’ phablet is expected to arrive in 19 more days.

    Karbonn S1 Titanium(Dual SIM)

    This is the first quad core processor based phablet of the year and is quite affordable. The S1 Titanium is an 11.4 Cm display screen phablet (4.5 inches) and has a display resolution of 540 by 960 pixels. The display screen is a high quality HD multi touch capacitive screen. The phone is powered with a 1.2 GHz quad core processor and runs the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. The phablet has s 5 megapixel primary rear camera with auto focus and LED flash light support. There is a digital front camera for video conversations.

    The dual SIM phablet is now open for pre-booking at a decent price of Rs 10990. It is available in two colour options of Black and White.

    XOLO A1000 (Dual SIM)

    This phablet comes powered with an Intel dual core processor clocked at 1 GHz and sports a 5 inch HD IPS display screen at a screen resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels. The processor is supported by PowerVR SGX 531 graphics core and 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory. The memory can be expanded up to32 GB with a microSD card. The screen has a pixel density of 295 pixels per inch (ppi). The display is powered by One Glass Solution (OGS) technology which gives a sharper view of images and makes the device slimmer. 

    The primary camera of this phablet is an 8 megapixel rear one equipped with auto focus and BSI sensor for photography under low light conditions.

    The phablet (or, large screen phone) is available today at the online store flipkart at a price of Rs 13990.

    Lava IRIS 501 (Dual SIM)

    The domestic giant, LavaMobiles have entered this phablet space with a 5 inch dual-SIM device. The Iris 501 is a dual core processor based phone clocked at a speed of 1 GHz to run the Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich operating system and all other interesting tasks.

    The phone has a 5 megapixel auto-focus rear phone. The phone also have VGA front camera. The connectivity is offer via 2G, 3G, Bluetooth, USB, Wi-Fi and GPRS. The internal memory can be expanded up to 32 GB using a microSD.

    The Lava Iris 501 will be available in the market at a price of around Rs 9,999 which is quite decent as dual SIM versions of this screen size are not available below Rs 10000.

    Intex Aqua Style(Dual SIM)

    This dual SIM phone runs on a dual core Cortex A9 1 GHz processor and a RAM of 512 MB. The phablet will sport a 5.88 inch display touchscreen with a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels.

    The Aqua Style is powered with an 8 megapixel rear auto-focus camera with LED flashlight and 4x digital zoom. Running on the Android Ice cream sandwich operating system this massive screen phone also supports Hindi language and is perfect for consumers looking for a phone which will work also in Hindi.

    Aimed at the Indian game loving consumers this phablet comes with a list of pre-loaded games like the Fruit Ninja, Moto Racing, Temple Run, Alpine Boarder and Angry Bird. With access to the Google Play store you can download many free and paid games and other utility apps.

    The phablet is yet to be launched and is expected to land this month.

    Intex Aqua Wonder(Dual SIM)

    Launched last week, this model from Intex is the latest entrant in the less than 10K market for dual SIM phablets.

    The Aqua Wonder is a 3G-enabled phablet with a display screen of 4.5 inch supporting 16 million colours. The display resolution is 960 by 540 pixels. The phablet runs the Android Jelly Bean operating system and is supported by a dual core processor clocked at 1 GHz. It has a RAM of 512 MB and internal memory of 1.93 GB. You can always increase the memory by 32 GB using a microSD card.

    The phablet has an 8 megapixel rear camera with 4x digital zoom and video recording facility at 720p. The additional features of this phone are - Flip mute, face unlock, dual MIC for noise reduction and support for Hindi language.

    As an introductory offer the company has bundled this with a 4 GB microSD card, a carry pouch and screen guard at no additional cost.

    iBall Andi5c (Dual SIM)

    This sleek and stylish phablet from iBall comes powered with 1 GHz Cortex A9 Processor under the 5 inch WVGA IPS display. This phablet running the Android Ice cream sandwich operating system has a 5 megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash as its primary camera. The secondary front camera is a decent one with video calling facility.

    The phablet offers connectivity via 2G, 3G, GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It carries an internal memory of 4 GB (approx 2 GB of which is for operating system and other applications), and expandable memory 32 GB via an external micro SDcard.

    The iBall is another dual-SIM Android phablet from the iBall which runs the (now older) Ice cream sandwich operating system. The phablet runs the dual core 1 Ghz Cortex A9 processor, under a 4.5 inch IPS qHD display screen supporting a resolution of 960 by 540 pixels.

    The Andi 4.5h has an 8 megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash light for photography needs. There is also a front camera to support video calling facility.

    This phablet comes with a scratch guard, a travel adapter and a set of stereo headset to fulfill your passion for listening music.

    Lemon Note P100(Dual SIM)

    This 5 inch phablet from Lemon runs the latest Jelly Bean 4.1.1 operating system and is a dual-SIM phablet.

    The phablet also supports one 3G SIM and supports a display of 960 by 640 pixels. It runs on a dual core processor clocked at 1 GHz.

    IT has an 8 megapixel primary rear camera and a secondary front camera. The phablet offers connectivity via Bluetooth, GPRS, Wi-Fi, 2G and 3G.

    It has a battery of 2500 mAh which could offer a talk time of 8 hours and stand by time of 380 hours.

    This phablet is yet to be launched and will be placed around Rs 10000.

    Fly F 50s(Dual SIM)

    The yet to be launched Fly phone- F 50s is expected to be a 5 inch device, entering the phablet segment. It will be powered with a dual core processor supported by a RAM of 2 GB. The phablet will offer an internal memory of 512 MB which can be expanded to 32 GB with a micro SDcard. It will run the Android Ice cream sandwich operating system.

    The phablet will connect to Internet via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS/EDGE and will come with loads of pre-loaded apps including games,

    This phablet will sport an 8 megapixel rear primary camera and a 2 megapixel front camera.

    The phone is expected to be launched this month and wil be a sub-10k phablet.

    Huawei Ascend G600

    Though Huawei is not India based mobile device manufacturing player, one product form this company launched recently fits this segment. The Ascend G600 is a 4.5 inch IPS display screen phone running the Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich operating system. The phablet runs a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor and sports an 8 megapixel autofocus dual LED flash camera. It is equipped with dual-speakers and Dolby DTS 5.1 for a theater like experience. There is dual Mic support for cancelling background noise.

    It has got a 1930 mAh battery which could offer 380 hours of standby time.
