3 inch display screens for mobile phones
The world is moving towards phablet devices (devices which are placed between a mobile phone and a tablet device with screen size between 4.6 to 5.5 inches), with 5 and 6 inch display screens with razor sharp display screens. This year we would wish to move away from 3 inch screen mobile phones and would like to see 4 inch or higher display screen phones.

Tablets weighing more than 300 grams
This year we witnessed launch of tablets that weigh about 320 to 350 grams (these were lighter compared to tablets launched in the previous year). The iPad was little on the lower side with just 308 grams and 312 grams, while the Google Nexus 7 was 340 grams. This year however we expect tablets which are more lighter and thinner between 250 grams to 300 grams.

3 and 5 megapixel cameras on mobile phones
With 8 and 13 megapixel cameras coming on mobile phones this year, the bar is already raised to a higher level. The year has began with 13 megapixel Sony Xperia phones, 8.7-megapixel camera in Nokia Lumia 920 which saw India launch this month. We do expect good phone cameras this year.

Non 4G compliant mobile phones
Yes, in India 4G is limited to 4 cities only and 3G has also not reached every corner of the country. We also do not see the 4G being completely implemented in the country this year, but it will definitely come to more cities this year. Yet in terms of devices we would like to see that our handsets are 4G compliant, so that we have the latest in terms of what the world is using.

Mobile phones in only Black and White colour variants
The year ended with colourful phones and tablets like the Nokia Lumia 920, Samsung Galaxy 3, Galaxy S3 Mini flaunting more vibrant and bright colours. Breaking away from traditional Black and white color options did happen earlier, but bright and lively colour options added to the carts this year. We could expect more fresh range of colours this year.

Low battery life in tablets and phones
This would be a strict no-no this year. Technology is advancing and processor companies have already announced faster, better and low power consuming processors in the beginning of this year. We could safely expect that this year devices will come with better and longer battery life.
