[UPDATE:After  Manu Kumar, India head of Xiaomi confirmed that Xiaomi Mi3 is making a comeback to India soon before Diwali this year, Hugo Barra, VP, Xiaomi Global has clarified that 1,00,000 units of Mi3 handsets will come for sale before Diwali.

"For the Diwali month we're chartering planes from Hong Kong to India to bring in Mi 3 and Redmi phones because it's too much product", Barra told to Reuters.

Meanwhile we checked the Flipkart website. The Mi3 handset has been added to the store as a 'coming soon' item now.

This could be one time sale of the handset, as Manu Kumar indicated yesterday.]

In the beginning of this month as we looked forward to new launches ahead of Diwali this year, we speculated that Xiaomi could launch the Mi3 again for the Indian market.

This is what we speculated “With the premium phones coming in October the company could decide to bet on the Mi3 again which went out of stock again and again (in 6 flash sales) in less than 5 seconds time. This is also because the latest launch Mi4 is not expected before the end of November this year. (expected launch date in India is Q1, 2015).”

Now news coming in from different media 91Mobiles say that the Mi3 could soon be coming to India. “We’ve just learnt that Xiaomi will be bringing the Mi 3 back into India,” it says. The information comes via Manu Kumar, who was speaking at the Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC) in Bangalore. Manu mentioned that the handset could come up via Flipkart again “at least for one more flash sale”.

Since the next flash sale of 60,000 RedMi 1S handsets is scheduled on the 30th September (for which registrations have already started), the company would try and maintain a safe distance from, the dates. A week ahead of Diwali should be a time Xiaomi could be looking at for the Mi3.

Xiaomi has competed four rounds of flash sale of its RedMi 1S budget INR 5,999 phone in India, in which it has already sold  1.8 lakh units of the handsets.

The Xiaomi Mi3 is a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm MSM8274AB Snapdragon 800 processor powered handset in the Indian market. This is a full HD 5-incher with Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB RAM, and 16 GB internal storage (and no expandable storage), and a 13 megapixel camera on the back side.

This handset will compete with Moto X 2nd Generation, Nexus 5 and other premium handsets in the Indian market.
