Sony is in a mood to offer a better water-resistant phone to the Sony fans. The Company is reportedly working on a new phone.
“This is believed to the same handset codenamed Dogo with model number C550X” said Thefullsignal as it leaked the specifications of this upcoming phone. This phone which is expected to come to market as Sony Xperia ZR will have an IP58 water-resistance rating which is a higher grade than that of the water and dust-resiatant Sony Xperia Z. This will mean this phone could be submerged around half a meter deeper into water and will be ready to go into the bath tub with you.
The Xperia ZR will sport a 4.6 inch display screen with a resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels and a 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm S4 Pro processor chip. IT will also feature a 2 GB RAM, a 13 megapixel Exmor RS camera sensor, 8 GB internal storage, microSD memory card support and a 2300 mAh battery says Xperiablog.
This is expected to drop the glass back panel of the Xperia Z and is expected to be slightly above 10 mm in thickness and will be around 140 grams in weight. IBTimes speculates that this phone is likely to retail considerably below the price mark of the Xperia Z.
The Xperia ZR is yet to see a formal announcement from Sony and is expected this the third quarter of this year.
Last month Sony launched the Sony Xperia A with same code name exclusively for the Japan market, but with a better display resolution. Sony is also working on another phone codenamed ‘Gaga’ which is expected to sport a 5-inch 1080p display with the Snapdragon 600 chipset, 2GB RAM and 32GB storage.
