    Don't switch the phone on, as this can cause it to short circuit – if it has been in water. If it is on just switch it off.

    The most important step is to remove the battery. Don't take time to think about it; electricity and water do not mix. Check the corner near where the battery is, there should be a white square or circle, with or without red lines. If this is pink or red, your phone has water damage.

    Dry the device with rice. If the device has got a lot of gulal on it just rinse it with clean water and cover it completely with dry, uncooked rice and seal it in a container for a few days.

     

    You can also do the same for your tablet devices.

    Remove the SIM card. This will save your valuable contact stored in the SIM. Simply Pat it dry and leave it till you need to connect your phone to your cellular network.  Also remove the phone case if your phone has one.

    After at least 24 hours, or longer if possible, if your phone seems completely dry, re-attach the battery and SIM. Try turning it ON.
