Ahmedabad: Leaders of state political parties expressed deep shock over the demise of the founder of Shiv Sena, Bal Thackeray. Chief Minister Narendra Modi will reach Mumbai on Sunday to pay homage to the departed leader and meet his family members.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the state unit of Shiv Sena termed Thackeray a true Hindu leader and a nationalist who always dreamt of making India a Hindu Rashtra – a nation of Hindus. Below are some of the tributes paid to the late leader.
“He was known for his will power and strong leadership. He was full of life. He established the Shiv Sena as a political party at the national level. I am shocked and grieved by his demise,” said Modi.
“Bal Thackeray was a patriot and a true Hindu leader. His death has created a vacuum in the politics of Maharashtra. Thousands of nationalists in the country have lost a great leader,” said national vice-president of BJP, Purushottam Rupala, and state head, RC Faldu.
President of GPCC Arjun Modhwadia, leader of the party in assembly Shaktisinh Gohil and chief of campaigning committee, Shankersinh Vaghela, expressed deep shock and grief over the death of Thackeray and conveyed a condolence message to the family members of the leader.
“Bal Thackeray was a true Hindu leader who dreamt of India as a Hindu nation. He was a true patriot and fought for Hinduism and nationalist issues. It is a great loss to us and the nation as a whole. For Shiv Sainiks he was a tiger,” president of Gujarat unit of Shiv Sena, Umesh Engineer, said.
“He was not a leader only for Maharashtra. He was a true national leader who fought for national and patriotic causes. He also fought for the cause of the common man and the poor. I offer my condolences,” said GPP founder-president Keshubhai Patel.
“Balasaheb Thackeray has been the inspiration and strength behind various Hindu causes. With his departure from this world, a fatherly support is gone for all Hindus. He was the real Hindu Hruday Samraat, who never compromised on any Hindu issue for power or allurement. His vision for Hindus, Bharat and Hindu Rashtra was clear,” international working president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Dr Pravin Togadia, said.
“He was a courageous Hindu leader who had place in the people’s hearts. He was not only a political but also a social leader. His followers are expected to adopt his principles of Hindutva,” chief of Gujarat unit of Rashtriya Svayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Dr Jayanti Bhadesia, said.
