Ahmedabad: The Sabarmati riverbank is witnessing a rather colorful side these days.
The river bank will see exotic flowers, plants, saplings, vegetable plants, ayurvedic plants, bonsai and cactus spread across 60,000 sq metres as part of the five-day first-ever 'Ahmedabad Flower Show'.
The mega flower show, touted as one of the most ambitious new projects in the city, will witness flowers from 12 countries.
AMC officials claimed that exotic flowers, like cymbidium orchid, hydrangea, guzmania , anthurium, orchid, Dutch rose, gerbera, petunia will be seen in the city for the first time at the flower show. The flowers were flown from Australia, Singapore and Thailand. Orchids, carnations and lilyums came from Israel and the Netherlands.
Over 100 rose varieties, from Kashmir and various other parts of the country, will also be displayed at the five day show.
A competition for local farmers will also be held to encourage local farmers participation.
