Ahmedabad: The state assembly elections in Gujarat have activated the betting market, with bookies already listing the rates of various political heavyweights, including Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Punters have placed the rates depending on the candidate's appeal and popularity.
The scam-struck Congress has hit a new low in the markets. Bookies pointed out that in-fighting and recent resignation of heavyweight Narhari Amin has cost the party. Punters said that Congress might see a drift in its vote base while the BJP is expected to see a sizable increase in its seats.
Punters have placed the money on Narendra Modi, Keshubhai Patel, Shankersinh Vaghela and Anandiben Patel among others.
