Ahmedabad: This Diwali was more celebratory for Gujarati kids!
On the first day of Gujarati new year on Wednesday, students from across Gujarat had a chat with US astronaut of Indian origin Sunita Williams.
Williams, currently aboard International Space Station as commander of Expedition 33, answered their queries through a Ham Radio connection established at Science City in Ahmedabad.
The talk coincideed with the Children's Day in India. The tele-talk session lasted 11 minutes starting at 3.48pm
A team of experts set up the radio connected with Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS).
Indians around the world got a special Diwali message from outer space as the Indian-American astronaut sent out warm wishes on Tuesday from the International Space Station. Floating upside down in the space station as she appeared on the screen before the Indian tricolour for a local TV show, Williams said, "I just want to wish everybody in India and people of Indian origin around the world a happy Diwali."
