18 months of workout transformed Farhan Akhtar into Milkha Singh

Farhan Akhtar will soon be seen playing the character of ‘Flying Sikh—Milkha Singh’, in his upcoming movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The actor spent more than 18 months to achieve the athletic physique of legendary Indian Olympian Milkha Singh.
Farhan followed a vigorous exercise routine for a period of 18 months to tone up his body.
The movie talks of Singh’s life as a gold medal-winning track and field sprinter who triumphed over hurdles put up for him by circumstances.
In order to present an unadulterated version of the Olympian on screen, Director Rakeysh Omprakesh Mehra asked Farhan to look very authentic.
He made sure that the actor learnt how to sprint like a runner, to resemble his character.
Mehra appointed a team of professionals including an athletics coach and a fitness trainer, who helped Farhan Akhtar build his body to suit the character.
The actor was made to follow a strict diet program for over 18 months and was trained vigorously.
