Harley Davidson has finally admitted that India is feasible for its awesome iconic bikes at low cost. The company is planning to introduce a 500 cc bike in India, which will be developed locally and will suit the pockets.
According to industry sources, the upcoming bike will be manufactured by the American company at its plant in Bawal, Haryana, says CarTrade. Harley Davidson assembles Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units of its motorcycles at this unit and offer these in the Indian auto market.
The new bike according to the news report Chief Operating Officer of Harley Davidson, Matthew Levatich has confirmed that the bike will be manufactured in India and will be sold in markets across the globe. The bike isa expected to be powered by the V-Twin engine as in most of the Harley Davidson motorbikes, and will get 40 bhp of power and 45 Nm of torque. It will be light weight, will sport a low seat height and supple throttle and braking he informed.
The bike is expected to hit Indian roads at a cost between Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 4 lakh. The company hjas positioned itself in the premium brand segment in India and is aiming at offering a better option to those who want premium bike other than Royal Enfield.
The bike might see daylight at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.
