New Delhi: Close on the heels of Honda unveiling the Amaze-- and at a killer price tag too-- Maruti has made it clear it won't let its Japanese rival look at the entry-level sedan battle as one that's over before it began.
India's largest car maker has rolled out Regal, an updated variant of its best-selling sedan, the DZire at a starting price of Rs 5.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
DZire Regal comes in a new serene blue colour, leather upholstery, advanced music system, rear parking sensor, body-coloured electronically adjustable ORVMs (outside rear view mirror) with a silver coloured front grill, media reports said.
Their vehicle will be available as a petrol only option. This has made many speculate that the car will actually be an attempt at revving up petrol vehicle sales, and not as an option to Honda Amaze in particular.
Many auto players in India, including Maruti, have been battling the challenge of rising petrol inventory, thanks to the sharp difference in the price of petrol and diesel that has made buyers constantly pick diesel over gasoline variants in the past several quarters.
