New Delhi: Land Rover has announced the launch of the all-new Range Rover in India, the world’s most refined and capable SUV. The 4th generation of the iconic Range Rover line, the new model has been developed from the ground up to provide the ultimate luxury SUV, following the innovative spirit of the original design from over 40 years ago. The world’s first SUV with a lightweight all-aluminium body, the new Range Rover takes the capabilities of the marque’s flagship to a new level, with even greater luxury and refinement, enhanced performance and handling on all terrains, and significant advances in sustainability. Some of the more distinguishing features:
Unlike the outgoing model, the new Range Rover features a more streamlined and aerodynamic design on the body. The drag coefficient is low, and so is the roofline in the access mode, meaning that the travelling at higher speeds became even more easier. Even the interior has been given a more modern touch, but very much carries the Range Rover essence, with the best leather and veneers used. Also, the legroom has been extended by 118mm more, which gives the interior spacing and extra extention especially for the rare seat passengers. As for the body goes, this is a lighter version from those seen in the earlier editions. It is an all-aluminium monocoque body structure which is 39% lighter than the steel body in the outgoing model.
Though Range Rovers are just equally luxurious, the ruggedness as a vehicle is known to be just as constant. This time. The new Land Rover’s Terrain Response is an automated feature which change the settings of the vehicle, as per conditions outside. The traction control system gets a better uplift with the 4WD system and 2-speed transfer box for better handling an control of the vehicle. Just to ensure that the technology withstands the toughest conditions, the car has been tested on road for 18 months across 20 countries with varied terrain.
The car features the options of the 5.0-litre 510PS LR-V8 Supercharged petrol engine or the 4.4-litre 339PS SDV8 diesel edition. Both of them come with the 8-speed automatic transmission for swift transition of performance under different conditions.
