New Delhi: BMW has been redoing its line up for the year, and to get the volumes back up again, it has decided to reintroduce the 320i sedan in the line up, yet again. The car became a symbol of success for the German carmaker that is known to have made the brand prominent in the western markets like the United States, and also became the most popular series sold in India as well. However, this time around, BMW has ensured to keep the cost of owning the sedan as lower, so that more people could have access to the vehicle, unlike earlier where it was targeted at a more elite class of car owners. This time around there will be a 2.0-litre 240 HP 4-cylinder engine, mated with a 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmission. This will be enough power to push the 320i from 0 to 100 kmph in just 7.1 seconds, and the top speed on the machine is 210 kmph. However, the rear wheel driving option has been kept standard, but the all wheel drive will cost the buyer some extra cash.
Amongst the options, there are the 17 inch standard aluminum alloy wheels or the 18-inch alloy wheels which come in with the sports package. In terms of the color, there are 12 options including the jet black, imperial blue metallic, mineral grey metallic, black sapphire metallic, havanna metallic, sparkling bronze metallic, glacier silver metallic, melbourne red metallic, liquid blue metallic, orion silver metallic, mineral white metallic, and alpine white.
The price tag and availability for the new BMW 320i in India hasnt been formally announced as yet. The car just got featured at the Detroit Auto Show, and has become the centre of attention for its affordibility far. But if estimates were to be drawn, Rs 20 lakh could be the median price, though most probably it will be a few lakhs higher than this price tag.
