Behind this door is the city of Lord Rama’s brother Lakshman

Old Lakshmanavati’s medivial name was Gaud. In Treta Yug, Lord Rama’s brother Lakshman had found this place. Therefore, after his name only this place is called Lakshmanavati. After Muslim invasion, the temples in this place were broken and Mosques were built. The name of this place too was changed to ‘Lakhnauti’.
Time changed again and today this place is known as Gaud. It is said that this place is called Gaud because jiggery grows in this place in huge amount. However, today, this place is only left with broken construction.

Lakhnauti is very near West Bengal. In the 9th and 10th century, this place was ruled by Pal Kings. During this time, a lot of temples were built here, which were later destroyed by Muslims
Mughal Emperor Humayu tooruled this place for some time, but Afgani’s then invaded the place.
However, today this place is destroyed. But even today remains of temples and mosques can be seen here.
The roads of this place have now grass growing on it and the place has many wild animals here. This place is like a forest now.
For last 300 years the place has been a forest. It is only in recent past that some clearing work has begun and human establishments can be seen.
