Lord Vishnu then advised the Gods to extract nectar (for immortality) by churning the Kshir Sagar with the help of demons. The same was done. When the nectar came out of the water, Lord Vishnu indicated the son of Indra Dev and he picked the nectar and flew in the air. Angry demons followed him and captured him half way.
To get the nectar back from the demons, a battle for 12 days was fought. To pacify the strife, Lord Vishnu in disguise of Mohini distributed the nectar to Gods and demons in equal amounts.
