Mumbai: Kavita Karkare, wife of late Hemant Karkare, the ATS Chief who was killed by terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab on the night of 26/11 is disgruntled with filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma.
Insiders reveal that Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) invited Kavita Karkare for the first look of his forthcoming film 'The attacks of 26/11'. However, during the telephonic conversation, Kavita allegedly expressed her displeasure towards RGV who has apparently highlighted senior IPS officer Rakesh Maria as a hero in the film.
Rakesh Maria who was the Crime Branch Chief during the terror attacks, opted to stay back in the police headquarter control room to guide the force fighting the terrorists.
Maria's character in the said film is played by acclaimed actor Nana Patekar.
Though, Kavita Karkare along with Smita wife of encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar and daughter of constable Tukaram Obale were present at the special screening, they refrained from sharing any thoughts with the media representatives and had a silent exit from the venue.
Though RGV, before the special screening made it clear that the film was not highlighting any individual but was a tribute to all who lost their close ones, he did spend some private moments with Kavita and Smita inside the Nehru auditorium which was, perhaps to convince the two that it
was a cinematic representation of the tragic event.
