Mumbai: Mumbai Police on Saturday arrested a man for allegedly allowing a friend to rape his own daughter to pay off a loan of Rs 50,000. The class eight student was forced into a sexual relationship with a man for two years, while her own parents kept guard. The accused rapist used to live with the family and had loaned the amount for buying a room.
The 40-year-old man named Nisar, who was a close friend of victim’s father, had been living with the family for last four years. Policy said that Nisar had illicit relationship with victim’s mother. He had given a loan to the family to buy a room. When the parents were unable pay the loan back, Nisar raped the victim with her parents’ consent as a mutually agreed mode of repayment of the loan. When the father, who worked as a labourer, used to go for work, victim’s mother would force the child to have sex with Nisar. Subjected to the inhuman behavior, the victim slipped into deep depression.
The sordid tale of the ordeal came out when the victim mustered courage to talk to her teacher in this regard in August last year. The teacher first approached her parents to lodge a complaint in this regard. Spooked by the prospects of police action in the case, they sent the victim to their native village in Uttar Pradesh. Then, the teacher contacted some NGO who lodged a formal complaint with the police.
The victim was brought to the city on Friday by UP police and handed over to Vithalwadi police. The victim's statement was later recorded by the Child Welfare Committee and police. Based on the statement, police on Saturday morning booked the three accused under sections 376 (rape), 354 (molestation), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. While the father was arrested the other two accused are still absconding.
