Mumbai: Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist caught in the 26/11 Mumbai carnage, was on the Lashkar-e-Toiba target list.
Highly placed sources said,"There were Intelligence inputs from last two years about threat to Kasab's life as some terror outfits wanted him eliminated."
Reports said these terror groups didn't want Kasab to be hanged on Indian soil.
The high security deployed for Kasab was one of the key reasons because if there is any sort of attack it would end up killing others too.
The secret plan 'Operation X' to execute Kasab was conceived after Intelligence agencies warned of repercussions of making the execution date public.
Sources revealed that LeT had planned attacks on Indian or international embassies, jails and instigating communal riots if details about Kasab's execution was revealed."
Confirming the reports, the Mumbai Police Chief Dr Satyapal Singh said, "Yes there were Intelligence inputs and scare of Communal disharmony which is why the entire operation was kept a secret."
