Amongst the chants of ‘Har Har Gange’, and ‘Har Har Mahadev’, the first snan commenced at Mahakumbh. The first to dip into the waters were, ‘mahanivadi’, ‘panchayati’ and ‘Juna’ akharas. Though the Nirvani akhara, took the snan, Shankaryacharya, was nowhere in sight.
One of the main situations the Mahakumbh Management wanted to avoid was rift between akhadas. However, like anyother Mahakumbh, this was not the case as two prominent akhadas have become adamant to take holy dip first on Makar Sankranti. With just three days to go for the shahi snan, authorities are leaving no stones unturned to resolve the ego-tussle.
On Friday, authorities held a meeting with representatives of both the parties. Despite consultations, both akhadas-Nirmohi ani, Nirvaani ani-refused to break truce in the matter. Nirvaani akhada even threatened that it would boycott Mahakumbh if its demand was not met.
The absence of Shankaryacharya, has been linked to the same dispute.
