Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta following special instructions from the state government conducted series of raids against corrupt bureaucrats throughout the year, apart from regular traps in which the agency nabbed scores of government employees and officers for amassing ill gotten money.
Lokayukta Indore and Ujjain officials exposed several huge corruption cases in both the divisions this year.
In the biggest haul, the Lokayukta special establishment police early this year had unearthed assets worth Rs 35 crore from establishments of SDO, forest, Nand Kishore Vyas who was posted in Indore. The
officer's property was worth several crores including a four-storey building, 25 bigha farmhouse, one school, some firearms, JCB machine etc.
In subsequent months, the agency also targeted public servants including physician couple Dr Vinod Laheri and Dr Vidya Laheri, Ujjain Development Authority (UDA) executive engineer Hukum Chand Patidar's houses in Ujjain and Chitarkhedi (Ghatia tehsil), Jail Superintendent Purushottam Somkunwar and officer of Madhya Pradesh Scheduled Caste Finance and Development Corporation.
Besides, Economic Offence Wing (EoW) mostly remained busy getting Rs 40 crore worth properties owned by corrupt RTO clerk Raman Dholdhuye attached throughout the year.
A Special Court passing a landmark judgment had ordered for attachment of clerk's properties but the clerk appealed against the verdict and following court orders EoW is busy compiling documents in connection with ill-gotten wealth of the clerk.
