New Delhi: The country's leading media group DB Corp Ltd has entered into a pact with World Series Hockey (WSH) and become the global partner of the Bhopal Badshahs in the forthcoming hockey championship.
"It's an honour to be the part of this event. Hockey has mass fan following in the region," said Girish Agrawal, director of DB Corp Ltd, which owns Dainik Bhaskar.
"There is also an emotional angle attached to our association with Bhopal Badshahs as hockey has a strong legacy in this part of India ... There are many players from Bhopal who have made the country proud at international level. Our move will benefit hockey in the region. We will also organise events in schools and colleges to promote hockey," added Agrawal.
World Hockey Series will be held from February 29 to April 02. Series will involve 200 players from India and other parts of the world, who will showcase their talent to clinch the biggest prize money hockey tournament in the world.
Total 59 matches will be held at the eight venues for the inaugural edition of WSH.
Chandigarh Comets will clash with Bhopal Badshahs in the inaugural match of the series on February 29 in Bhopal. Other venues for the matches are Bangalore, Chandigarh, Pune, Chennai, Delhi, Jalandhar and Mumbai.
