Bhopal: Lokayukta on Monday received a complaint seeking a probe into the alleged mining scam involving Congress MLA and state general secretary Sanjay Pathak.

Complainant Rajendra Dixit in his complaint alleged Pathak excavated and sold out iron ore with Rs 5000 crore illegally from forestland without mandatory approvals from authorities in the past five years alone.

His family owns mining firms - Messrs Nirmala Minerals and Messrs Anand Mining Corporation - continued to excavate iron ore from four mines even after expiry of their lease, the complaint said.

The mining firms were given permission to mine until 2007.

However, Pathank's companies continued mining without approvals, he alleged. Even the earlier approvals given to the mines, the complaint said, were illegal because the forest land was declared as revenue land in gross violation of the law.

He produced copy of a note sheet purposed to have been prepared under instruction of then chief minster Divijay Singh to show the forest land as revenue land.

Besides, the mining firms operating in district Jabalpur were also accused of encroachment to expand their operations.

The complainant sought a probe and action against all those who were involved in the alleged scam. Earlier, a Congress leader had lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta seeking probe into a mining scam worth Rs 600 crore in Jabalpur.

State Congress media cell chairman Manak Agrawal also filed a private complaint in a trial court demanding registration of a criminal case against chief minister Shivraj Singh Chuhan, three of his cabinet colleagues and nearly two dozen others in this connection. Hearing in the matter was adjourned to December 7.
