Bhopal: Looks like everything Prakash Jha touches becomes controversial. His upcoming flick ‘Satyagraha’ seems to be mired in controversy in Bhopal where shooting is to take place on historic Benazir ground. The ground is being made ‘fit’ by putting road metal and sand on the heritage ground for shooting to take place.
Benazir ground is a historic place that surrounds Benazir Palace, Benazir Gate and Tajul Masajid within its premises. Mahatma Gandhi had visited Bhopal in 1929 and it was this ground only where he had addressed the residents of the then province.
Local Congress corporator Shahid Ali protested against the restoration work on the ground apparently to make the ground fit for shooting purpose. He raised question as how can they ruin the historic place for shooting purpose. This had led all the Congress corporators to oppose shooting on Benazir ground.
However, Prakash Jha’s unit has obtained no-objection certificate from Gandhi Medical College that own the land at present.
