Prominent journalist, Sai Reddy, found dead in South Chhattisgarh; Maoist hand suspected

Raipur: A prominent journalist of Bijapur in South Chhattisgarh, Sai Reddy, was murdered by unidentified attackers on Friday.
The Superintendent of Police of Bijapur, Prashant Agrawal, said that though based on the first impression it seems that Mr Reddy has been killed by the Maoists but they could not confirm at this point.
Police sources confirmed that Mr Reddy was attacked by a group of men with sharp edged weapons and severely injured when he gone to a weekly market in Basaguda village that was close to his house. The journalist, who lay in a pool of blood, was rushed to the district headquarters of Bijapur but he died on the way to the hospital.
In 2008, Mr Reddy became the victim of ire of the police when he was arrested by the State Police and charged under the Special Public Security Act of Chhattisgarh for his reported link with the Maoists. Later he was released on bail.
Considered one of the most bonafide journalists of the region by his fellow journalists the 51-year-old dealt thoroughly with the issues and problems of Bastar division.
