Bhopal: Even as Special task force (STF) claimed to have solved mystery behind murder of journalist Chandrika Rai’s and his family, his brother has announced a cash reward to anyone who provides clues helpful in solving the case.
“We are not satisfied with the police’s response. They have tried to confuse everyone by floating several theories,” Mithilesh Rai, brother of Chandrika, told DNA adding “I have announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh from my side to anyone who provides any clues regarding the murder”.
“The police’s work over the past two days has not been to our satisfaction. Neither do we agree that the murder was linked to the coal mafia or the kidnap of the SDO’s son,” he said.
Chandrika Rai, a freelancer for dailies Navbharat and The Hitavada, was found murdered at his residence along with his entire family—wife Durga, son Jalaj and daughter Nisha—in Madhya Pradesh’s Umaria district on Saturday. Interestingly, neither the police, nor Rai’s brother seem to agree with the opposition charge of the involvement of the illegal mining mafia in the murders. Congress MLA and leader of opposition in the state assembly Ajay Singh alleged the role of the coal mafia behind the murder.
