Indore: Over 6000 teachers appeared from Indore for Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET) examination, which was held on Sunday.
Out of the total 7813 candidates who registered for CTET, only 6442 appeared.
"It can be estimated that there was an increase of candidates by around 20% here," said Prestige School principal Prakash Chaudhary who was also an observer (invigilator) for the exam in one of the state centers.
CTET city coordinator and Vidyasagar School principal S K Joshi said that the exam was successfully held in the eight centers through an offline exam format for both the primary and middle school teachers. No problem was faced in the exam by either the teachers or the organising centers. The number of total candidates who had registered for the test was much less than those who appeared in the test.
"The number of absentees was quite high. There could be two reasons for the same- festive season is still continuing and delay in date of CTET. Some candidates had already appeared in the previous CTET and had filled the form for this one. They may have cleared the previous attempt and hence didn't appear this time," said Joshi. The result of CTET is expected to be declared in a month's time.
