Indore airport likely to be CAT-I compliant

Indore: The Centre is in the process of making Indore airport completely CAT-I compliant.

Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ajit Singh on Wednesday informed Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan about this while discussing various proposals in the aviation sector in the state, in New Delhi.

Singh informed Chouhan that 28 acres of land was also required on city-side in Indore to streamline vehicular movement and facilitate straight-in approach of vehicles to the new integrated terminal.

About setting up Centre for Perishable Cargo at Indore airport, the CM said that the facility would be established by MP Warehousing and Logistics Corporation (MPWLC) under PPP mode. He said that MPWLC had already written to Airports Authority of India (AAI) for allotment of land.

Chouhan also underlined the need for promoting Indore as destination for international flights and suggested for connecting the city to Middle-East and SE Asia. He said the move would help growth of industry in the area. He also offered do discuss a package including tax concessions on air turbine fuel for the airlines willing to operate from Indore.
