Indore: Unidentified miscreants murdered an elderly couple in broad day light with some heavy iron object and escaped with cash and jewellery valued at Rs 7 lakhs in a posh locality under Lasudia area on Tuesday afternoon.
Police are suspecting hand of the domestic help who was recruited barely four days ago and is missing since the brutal double murder. The ghastly incident reportedly occurred between 2.10 pm to 3 pm at 120 A, Scheme No 114, (2nd) close to Patel Motors at AB Road, the police said.
Kireet Thakkar (67) and his wife Varsha (62) were waiting for their son Ketone for lunch.
When Ketone reached the house at 3 pm from his office, VK 4 Agencies at Dewas Naka, he found the doors open.
He was stunned as he entered the dining room where his mother was lying in a pool of blood on the floor. In the adjacent bedroom his father was found in similar state.
Ketone immediately called some acquaintances. A doctor staying in neighborhood also reached there and informed police.
Senior police officials including SP, East, OP Tripathi and crime branch additional SPs Jitendra Singh and Manoj Rai immediately reached the scene.
The killers, probably three in number, hit the couple with some heavy and blunt iron object on their heads.
According to forensic expert Sudhir Sharma only one injury was found on the head of Kireet while his wife may have been hit more than once. Both died instantly.
It was evident from the condition of rooms and broken almirahs on the ground and first floor that the murders were committed for loot.
A prominent person close to the victims claimed that Rs 4 to 5 lakh and jewelry worth 3 lakh are missing from the house.
