Indore: Daily commuters for Ujjain and other areas will have to spend less time on travel , as the dilapidated road connecting Dhar road to airport is being reconstructed shortly.
AKVN, Indore has chalked out a plan to improve condition of this road. This proposed two-lane road would be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore.
At present, portion of the route connecting airport to Ujjain road is ready in the form of super corridor. The AKVN is planning to start construction of the part connecting Dhar Road to airport.
After the cargo hub was made functional, demand to repair this road grew louder so that Pithampur commuters could directly reach the airport. Length of this proposed route would be around 8 km.
AKVN has started process for appointing a private consultant to take care of the survey and construction. The consultant would also shoulder responsibility of appointing contractor, supervision, management and other tasks. The AKVN has set deadline for one year for completion of this road.
This route would be connected to super corridor and those who would travel towards Ujjain, Jhabua, Dhar, Ratlam and Ahmedabad could save time and fuel.
Travel timing between Indore and Ujjain would also reduce with proposed construction of MR link road at Bhaurasala bypass. The state government already has approved this 9.5 km road.
