Rs 3 lakh scholarship to colleges under Vikramaditya Scheme

Indore: The Department of Higher Education has granted over Rs 3 lakh scholarship to Indore colleges under the Vikramaditya scheme. Over 500 students of three colleges from Indore district will be benefitted with the scholarship scheme that started three years ago.
Old GDC College principal Usha Krishnan said that the scheme is to befit deserving boys of general category pursuing professional courses.
"It is a fees reimbursement scholarship. The amount is refunded to students before March 31," she said.
The department released the budget allotment of Vikramaditya scholarship for government colleges of the state on Wednesday. Students whose family income is less than Rs. 42,000 and have passed Class XII examination in first division are benefited under the scholarship scheme.
Tuition fee is exempted for higher education to students getting regular admission in government-aided colleges. As per state government record, 2013 students were benefited in the last academic session.
The department has sanctioned the amount to three government colleges of Indore district including GACC, Holkar College and Nirabhay Singh Patel College.
Girl students studying in government colleges of the state have already been exempted from the tuition fees, Krishnan said
