Indore: Students of Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM-I) got an insight on the emerging warfare techniques and the major challenges being faced by the Indian armed forces in recent times.
During a seminar conducted at the institute on Thursday, Col R K Srivastava delivered a lecture about the challenges posed by modern day warfare and the efforts taken by Indian armed forces in countering these challenges.
Media cell coordinator Ninad Bhangale told DNA that Col Srivastava identified individual groups as the potential war wagers in the modern time. He said that unlike past, now nations or states will not indulge in initiating wars, but individual groups will wage wars.
"Stressing upon the fact that we're currently living in the fourth generation of warfare, he highlighted the points that the wars of tomorrow shall not be raised by nation states but by individuals or groups," Ninad said. Citing examples from history, Col Srivatsava highlighted the importance of military leadership in shaping the future of nations and mankind at large.
Students also learnt about the life of an army man. They learnt that apart from the risk factor in the profession, they indulge in adventure sports, management lessons, humanitarian activities.
"For an army officer, first comes the honour of his country, then comes the responsibility of the men he commands and finally comes his own self", concluded Col Srivastava.
