New Delhi: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Saturday made it clear that Mukul Roy was the party's candidate as railway minister. According to media reports, Didi is not willing to wait till the end of the budget session and Trivedi's tenure could end on Monday.
However, Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi was adamant on holding on to his post and told a Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee that he would put in his papers only after he received a written order from the TMC chief.
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had told the Lok Sabha on Thursday that the Prime Minister had received a communication from Banerjee but said it was under consideration.
Trivedi, who has been speaking to several media houses and tv channels, has maintained that raising passenger fares was in the interest of the Railways.
