Shimla:This new application will be worth its use!
Now, you can direct yourself to the polling station with Google maps when you go to vote in your state. This starts with Himachal Pradesh assembly polls today.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has entered into an exclusive arrangement with the Internet giant Google for the country's voters.
Instead of locating the polling station here and there, the voter on Sunday in India, will for the first time, use a website or Google maps to get a list of polling stations and even the candidate's names in his constituency, a report published in TOI said.
For using the website, a voter needs to log on to or www.eci-polldaymonitoring.nic.in.
On Google Android maps application, one needs to type the address or place to visit and the maps will automatically provide a list of nearby polling stations, TOI reported.
The website or the application would also allow the voter to check if his name is in the electoral rolls or not.
