New Delhi: India’s premier intelligence agency the Intelligence Bureau prepared a note based on the testimonies of alleged terrorists and foreign intelligence inputs to save the skin of special director Rajendra Kumar in the notorious Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case. The note says that the nineteen-year-old girl was a terrorist recruited by Lashkar-e-Toiba. It also says that Ishrat had gone to a UP village along with Salim to get weapons for their operation to assassinate Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
A meeting presided by Home Secretary RK Singh was held in this regard on June 13. The chiefs of the IB and CBI were also present in the meeting. According to the note, Mohammad Washi alias Raju had informed the authorities about this.

Washi, a resident of Ibrahimpura, Faizabad had recorded his statement in the presence of a magistrate saying that Pakistani citizen Salim alias Amjad Ali Rana had accompanied Ishrat when she came to Ibrahimpur and Lucknow for acquiring weapons.
He also claimed that Salim had got injured in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir. Ishrat was present when a local treated his shoulder injury.
The Intelligence Bureau also cited a FBI report and Headley's statement. Headley is reported to have told the NIA and FBI that LeT commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi had told him in 2005 about the failed terror operation in India involving Ishrat and the men who were killed with her.
The agency didn’t dig much into the disclosure as it was just a hear say.
