Shimla: The tribal areas of Lahaul and spiti, Pangi and Bharmaur and Kinnaur experienced intermittent snowfall since early today while some places in mid and lower hills were lashed by strong velocity icy winds accompanied by showers.
Keylong and Udaipur in Lahaul Valley recorded 25 cm and 30 cm of snow while Koksar, Darcha and other high altitude areas had 45 cm of snow.
The Rohtang Pass (13,050 ft), the gateway to Lahaul which was closed due to heavy snow, had another spell of moderate snowfall and 50 cm of fresh snow was recorded.
Mari, Gulaba, Rani Nallah and Solang also recorded 25 cm to 40 cm of fresh snow while Chansel and Saach passes are experiencing intermittent heavy snowfall.
The mercury plummeted in tribal areas after snowfall and Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded the maximum day temperature at 4.0 degree while Shimla, Bhuntar and Dharamshala recorded a high of 14.0 degree, 10.2 degree and 16.4 degree.
