New Delhi: The Indian National Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, has taken a major step that would surely change the political outlook of the country. The Congress supremo will take oath as India’s Prime Minister on Monday.

pmsonia_288Also, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi will become the new Home Minsiter replacing P Chidambaram.

The step is believed to have been taken to establish control and re-furnish the public image of the defamed UPA government. Sonia Gandhi will swear-in as PM on April 2, Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.

The current PM Manmohan Singh’s political career is said to be over with Sonia Gandhi taking the charge.

The occurrence of numerous scams including the recent Army scandal, 2G spectrum scam and Commonwealth scam, has tarnished the UPA governance. Sonia Gandhi took the important decision in the wake of upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

The appointment of Rahul Gandhi as the new Home Minister is believed to have been reached after Chidambaram’s flawed approach in recent issues. With the post as Home Minister, Rahul Gandhi will get yet another platform to prove his mettle in politics.

According to Abhishek Manu Singhvi, UPA will join hands with BSP and SP to strengthen their political stand. The two allies will be included as part of the government, he said. This has led to a drastic change in the cabinet.

SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav will be the new Finance Minister, replacing Pranab Mukherjee. The current Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will be party’s candidate for the President’s post.

On the other hand, BSP chief Mayawati, will step in as the new Foreign Minister replacing SM Krishna. The decision to replace Krishna was taken in the light of his incompetency to tackle sensitive issues.

Congress has also dissolved its ties with Trinamool Congress with the appointment of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav to be the new Minister of Railways. The current HRD Minister, Kapil Sibbal, will be replaced by Rajiniti Prasad from the RJD.

All the new ministers will take oath in accordance to their appointment alongside Sonia Gandhi in the swearing-in ceremony scheduled on April 2.
