New Delhi: Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare announced a new 13-member team on Saturday to take “apolitical” anti-corruption battle forward with a promise to expand the panel within a month.
"We have formed a 13-member team which will give a push to the movement," Hazare said. The new team was announced after Hazare met with Kiran Bedi, Medha Patkar and some former Team Anna members at Maharashtra Sadan. The new faces in the committee are former DGP (Punjab) Shashikant, former IAS officer Avinash Dharmadhikari, Lt Col Brijendra Khokhar, Ran Singh Arya, activist Akshay Kumar and agri expert Vishambhar Chaudhary.
The new team would start a nationwide campaign against corruption from Jan 30 next year, the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
"Today (Saturday) there was a meeting among 13 old members of our group. Soon there will be a national campaign against corruption. I will start a nationwide tour from Jan 30, 2013," Anna told reporters after the meeting.
This comes after former Team Anna was disbanded two months ago in the backdrop of Arvind Kejriwal taking a plunge to form a political party against the wish of erstwhile Team Anna.
Anna further said he will inaugurate his new office at Sarvodaya Enclave in south Delhi Sunday.
