New Delhi: Team Anna core committee will not be dissolved, said civil society member Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday after the crucial meeting of the core panel ended.

teamanna_288Talking to the reporters, Kejriwal said the decision of not dissolving the core committee is unanimous. “The anti-corruption panel to bring Jan Lokpal Bill is the movement of millions. Team Anna members as well as volunteers played a vital role in this movement. And so there is no question of dissolving the core committee,” he said.

Speaking for the team, Kejriwal said, "The core committee will stay, and new members will be brought in."

Kejriwal insisted that there is no rift in the team and said that they would not allow anyone to divert them from the objective of the anti-corruption movement.

However, announcing that new members would be added to the group, he said, "There is always scope for restructuring of the core committee."

He further said, "The core committee supports the decision to bring Lokpal as strategy in the Hisar polls. We will adopt Lokpal as an issue for the upcoming polls if the govt does not pass the Jan Lokpal Bill soon."

Speaking in reference with the recent attacks on Team Anna members, Kejriwal said the government is targeting the members. “Government is using official machinery to malign the Team Anna members,” he added.

Earlier in the day, the core committee of Team Anna met  amid a clamour for its revamp over allegations of financial conduct by some key members here.

Hazare, who is on a vow of silence from October 16, is not attending the meeting which comes against the backdrop of a series of allegations against key members Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi as well as resignation of two prominent activists Rajinder Singh and P V Rajagopal citing the political turn taken by Hazare's anti-corruption movement.

Prashant Bhushan, Shanti Bhushan, Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Bedi are attending the meeting. Activist Medha Patkar and Santosh Hegde are not attending the meeting.

Key member Kumar Vishwas, who had shot off a letter to Hazare demanding suspension of the core committee and its expansion, is not attending the meeting as he has left for Tokyo.

Ahead of the meeting, Bedi said there are no differences in the movement and they all want the Jan Lokpal Bill passed in the Winter Session of Parliament.
