New Delhi: More than 5 crore account holders of the Employee Provident Fund Office (EPFO) have the advantage of getting their latest statement via online route, only a few clicks needed to do so. The e-Passbook service will allow users to download their electronic challan-cum-return returns and statements every month, after it has been uploaded on the database of the Central Provident Fund. The handy service was launched the EPFO Central Provident Fund Commissioner RC Mishra this Friday.
The website (www.epfindia.gov.in) will have details of holders who have made a contribution to the same, within the last 36 months of operations, and those who havent, will not have access to their PF details. The current glitch in the service however, is members of PF trusts which are set up employers to manage their employees' retirement benefit, are exempt from this service at the moment. In future however, this is stated to change.
For members who are not active (left service) and have not settled their accounts, a e-passbook is available on special requests. Members of Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) can register themselves on portal by using his or her photo identification number, such as PAN, Aadhaar, National Population Registry, driving licence, passport, voter ID, ration card. They can use their mobile phone numbers as passwords.
