Alwar: A high quality synthetic track will also be constructed in Alwar for the athletes. The announcement in this regard was made on Sunday by Union minister of sports and youth affairs Bhanwar Jeetendra Singh.
The minister was in Alwar to lay the foundation of Khel Sankul on Indira Gandhi Stadium premises.
“Alwar will soon be developed as a sports hub of the state. We will ensure that no talent in the district gets wasted for want of resources and funds. A high-quality international synthetic track worth Rs7 crore will also be constructed for the athletes,” said Jeetendra Singh.
A ‘Centre for excellence’ worth Rs 50 crore is also proposed to be constructed in Alwar, he added.
He said the Union sports ministry has also decided to open Khel Sankuls in 7,000 blocks across the country including Rajasthan.
The construction cost of each Sankul will be Rs2 crore and sports equipment of around Rs15 lakh will be given to each Sankul.
He announced that the Union government is also planning to open sports schools in each district of the state for which a provision of Rs25 crore has already been made.
“Khel Sankuls will be opened in 7,000 blocks across the country. All sports facilities will be available there. In Rajasthan, sports schools will also be opened in every district of the state,” said Singh
He added that Rajasthan has immense potential in sports. “If proper facilities and resources are made available, the state can excel in sports at the international level. A lot is being done to promote sports in the state. If we need to excel, we must build proper infrastructure and tap the grassroots potential. Several new things will come up in near future,” said Singh. Several local Congress leaders were also present on this occasion.
