Jaipur: Thursday was Rajasthan's coldest day with majority of the places in the state recording a dip in temperature - as mercury plummeted by 5 notches.
According to the figures released by the Met department, Churu district remained the coldest with a minimum temperature of 9.8 degrees Celsius. The weather would dip drastically in the coming days, said the Met forecast.
On Thursday, Jaipur recorded a minimum temperature of 14 degrees celsius, which was a degree below the normal minimum temperature. Dense smog was also seen around the city, mainly due to prolonged air pollution. However by afternoon, the sun came out as the maximum temperature rose to 30.4 degrees celsius for the rest of the day.
The air, road and rail traffic was by and large smooth despite the smog in and around Jaipur.
Churu was the coldest district followed by Sriganganagar with a minimum temperature of 11.6 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperatures in the rest of the districts are as follows: Pilani (12 degrees Celsius), Chittorgarh (12.5 degrees Celsius), Jodhpur (13.9 degrees Celsius), Kota (14.0 degrees Celsius), Jaisalmer (14.5 degrees Celsius), Ajmer (14.8 degrees Celsius).
Meanwhile, Bikaner and Barmer recorded a minimum temperature of 17.2 degrees Celsius.
