Jaipur: Directors of Gold Sukh firm, Narendra Singh and his wife Saroj Kanwar, who are also the main accused in a ponzi scheme fraud case estimated to be over Rs 300 crore, were arrested by the Vidhayakpuri police on Sunday.

The couple was apprehended by the police team at the Delhi airport on Saturday night after Interpol issued an alert on the absconding couple's return to national capital on a flight from Bangkok.

Both were brought to Jaipur on Sunday and were interrogated by the police. With their arrest, the total number of arrests made in the Gold Sukh fraud case has reached 18.

Though, police said that three other directors of the firm, Manvendra Pratap Singh, Pramod Sharma and Mahendra Kumar are still absconding.

According to Vidhayakpuri police Narendra Singh (52) and his wife Saroj Kanwar (48), who lived in Neelkanth colony of Vaishali Nagar, had fled to Bangkok on November 19.

During questioning, Singh reportedly confessed that the fellow directors were also hiding in Bangkok, but he denied having any contact with them. He informed the police that he was living in a rented accommodation with his wife while his two sons were in India.

During his interrogation Singh said he was aware about ongoing probe in Gold Sukh case and he came to know about red corner notice issued against him through an online newspaper. Singh also told police that he used to stay in his flat throughout the day in fear of being arrested by the Thai police.

Fearing police action, Singh first sent three directors along with their families to Thailand on November 4. He then held a meeting with investors on November 17 and claimed to be innocent and blamed the remaining directors for the fraud. Singh then told investors that he would take three promoters with him to Thailand and conduct a search for absconding directors, but left them in lurch. He fled with his wife and children, police said. Police said Singh and his wife would be produced before the court on Monday to seek their remand for further probe into the case.
