Jaipur: A community panchayat in Dausa issued a fresh diktat for girls in a meeting convened in Bhandarej on Wednesday. After the all-caste meeting, panchayat members forbade girls from wearing scarfs and keeping mobile phones with them for their own safety.
The diktat was made public by noon. Members of the caste body later announced that the guideline for girls was a collective and conscious decision.
Four days back, a girl from the village went missing inviting the ire of the local villagers. Villagers have been demanding that cops trace out the missing girl. On Wednesday they gave an ultimatum of three days to the local police for bringing the girl back.
The villagers suspect that a boy has abducted the girl and want the police to arrest him. The all-caste meeting was called to decide on the matter.
