Might be called the New iPhone instead of iPhone 5
Since the image in Apple’s September 12 event invite featured a large, "5" in shadow, you can expect the launch of the next generation iPhone, the iPhone 5 in this even. Though according to reports published in Pocketnow last month this phone will probably be referred to as “The new iPhone” by the company and not the iPhone 5. This news report referred to the printing of packaging material for the New iPhone.
Some media reports however, believe it to be called iPhone 5. According to a Wired report, many fussed that Apple would never label its sixth generation iPhone with the number 5, history indicates Apple doesn’t care: the second generation iPhone was the iPhone 3G, and the fifth generation iPhone was the 4S. Apple did simplify the naming scheme for the iPad this year, but with multiple iPhone models out on the market, it would lead to too much product confusion if Apple dropped the number from the iPhone name entirely right now.

A larger display
The screen is expected to be thinner carrying a 4 inch display. The iPhone will also use a new technology that makes the smartphone's screen thinner, reported Wall Street Journal in June this year.
If we refer to the leaked images of the iPhone 5 battery and cases, we could expect that the phone will have a taller, bigger and thinner Lithium Ion battery. Since the battery is thinner, the rumor saying iPhone 5 will be a thinner device than its predecessor can be accepted.
In July this year, a Chinese blog Apple.pro published pictures of the front panel of the next iPhone. These pictures revealed a larger and longer display which together with the latest reports of a larger battery, confirm that it will be larger than the earlier iPhone.

4G LTE Ready
3G is already in a phasing out stage and 4G LTE is here. Making the phones 4G ready seems obvious, as Apple do not introduces a new product every few months, and neglecting this will put the company lag behind its competitors. Support for 4G is a basic requirement for any high-end device today. The Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, comes ready with 4G LTE support. The Samsung Galaxy 10.1 which Apple want banned in the US also has been updated with LTE support. The competition with the Android leader will of course, push Apple to go for LTE support in its new device.
There was speculations that the iPhone 4 will be a 4G ready, but Apple did surprised everyone with an only 3G ready phone, with high speed.
Even the reports on bigger and powerful battery also indicate that this device will be able to support all 4G action of the users.

New Operating System (OS) and new Apps
Apple is known for complimenting its new hardware with new software. With the launch of iOS this month, you can expect this new iPhone to carry the latest iOS 6.
The iOS "will take iPhone in entirely new directions", Apple has announced bout this operating system while announcing it.
As per the latest information, Apple has dropped pre-loaded YouTube and Google Maps apps from the OS, as the battle between the two tech companies grow. But, we also know of some secret negotiations going on between the CEOs of the two companies. For a confirmation on this you will need to wait for the final launch.
According to a report in Bostinno, you can expect a major upgrade for Siri, good facebook Integration, new features like setting reminders to call people back, sending messages instead of calling, do not disturb feature to not alert you with notifications, iCloud tabs integration which will integrate Safari across all iCloud-connected devices, allowing users to go from device to device with the same internet browsing tabs remaining open on each.

Better processor and camera
An improved processor is 100 percent guaranteed. In past few months, there has been no news of the new of A6 SoC (system on chip) quad-core processor. You can't say if this is expected in the new iPhone. But, if it is what the new Apple device runs on then, it will be faster and better on 4G and high video and audio utilities. The A6 is a quad-core CPU, a component that is quickly becoming commonplace on many high-end smartphones, such as LG's new Optimus G reports Informationweek.
The new phone will be the first Apple product to use this processor and to stay ahead in the competition.
It is common to expect, an improved camera in the new iPhone. The iPhone 3GS had a 3 MP camera, the iPhone 4 had a 5 MP one, the 4S model had an 8 MP one.
