Olympics LIVE: Indian medal hopes ride on Ronjan Sodhi, Vijay Kumar

New Delhi: 10:50 PM - Leander Paes-Sania Mirza reach the quarter-final of the mixed doubles tennis event at the Olympics 2012.
Paes-Sania beat Ivanovic/Zimonjic 6-2, 6-4 in the 1st round.
They will now face top seeds Azarenka/Mirnyi in the quarters.
10:20 PM -P Kashyap loses out 19-21, 11-21 to Chong Wei Lee of Malaysia and is out of the Olympics men's singles badminton event.
India’s medal hopes in the women’s badminton event have been kept intact by the shuttler Saina Nehwal. She defeated her opponent from Denmark in straight sets and in a time span of just 39 minutes. She has now advanced into the semi-finals of the event.
Earlier, India’s young boxer Jai Bhagwan lost his match 8-16 against Kazakhstan’s Gani Zhailauov in the pre-Quarter Final event of men’s lightweight boxing.
India’s best bid in Men’s 25 meter Rapid Fire Pistol event, Vijay Kumar, has got through in the Qualification round ahead of the finals in with a score of 293. He was placed third in Stage 1 with one point behind the top spot Russian Alexei Klimov.
On the other hand, India’s fancied shooter in Men’s Double Trap event, Ronjan Sodhi, has crashed out of Olympics after he failed to make it to the finals on Thursday. He was placed 11th with a score of 134 in the Qualification round.
With Sodhi crashing out, Indian hopes now rely on Vijay Kumar for a possible podium finish in Men’s 25 meter Rapid Fire Pistol.
